I have been
involved with dogs for over 30 years having run a large Boarding Kennels
/Cattery and G.S.D. Rescue. I have also bred English Setters, WHWT,
Shelties, Yorkies, Cockers and also owned Cairns and a Poodle. I have
been a dog groomer for over 25 yrs and have trained many people in the
art of Kennel Management, Welfare and Grooming.
I first got
involved with Dog Training about 27yrs ago with my Shetland Sheepdogs,
in both Obedience and Agility. I used to compete with my Shetland
Sheepdog and W.S. with much success. I now compete regularly with my
young WS and am in the process of training him in Flyball and agility. I
have also achieved all levels of KCGCDS with several of my own dogs.
I have been working
towards my Kennel Club Accreditation for which I have been recently
examined and I am now a KCAI
I have been judging
at Open Shows for a number of years and also regularly judge at YKC
Events.
I started my own
Obedience Club at Longden, NR. Shrewsbury 22yrs ago, the club has been
‘Listed’ with the K.C. for GCDS for approx. 5yrs. I have judged all
levels of the scheme and regularly hold ‘tests’ within the club. I train
any breed and age of dog from puppy, pet to competitive . I have
trained all my own Instructors to a high level prior to encouraging
them to attend Instructor Courses to achieve certification..
I am very involved
with encouraging junior handlers, mainly in obedience although I also
assist with the training of our YKC Flyball team and our junior HTM
handlers.
I have attended a
D.T.I. Course for the last 22 years gaining my Advanced Trainers
Certificate 19 yrs ago, I progressed to being a Team Leader which I have
done for 18yrs and course demonstrator for 10yrs
